How To Use SignalWave.

SignalWave identifies the trend regime a market is currently in and marks the moment that regime flips. Every confirmed flip is quality-graded — A+ or B — before it reaches your chart, and the grade standard calibrates to the symbol and timeframe you are on rather than to one global setting; flips that fail the quality gates still leave a small diamond, so a regime change is never hidden from you. Around the flips it paints live context: a structural TREND up / down / FLAT readout, a volatility state, a trailing flip level that doubles as a stop reference, and rejection-confirmed swing high and low marks. It is an analysis tool: it tells you which regime you are operating in and where that regime would break. What you do inside that regime is your own plan — SignalWave does not issue trade recommendations.

Reading the chart

Large ▲ BULL / ▼ BEAR labelAn A+ flip. The trend regime changed at that bar's close and every confluence check the grader looks at agreed. The label is placed clear of the local high or low so it does not sit on the wicks.
Small ▲ BULL / ▼ BEAR labelA B flip. Same event — a confirmed regime change at bar close — with only partial agreement behind it.
Small ◆ at the flip bar (above or below the candle)A filtered flip. The engine genuinely flipped and the trail line flipped with it, but the flip did not clear your Signal Filter's quality gates. It is marked so that a state change is never invisible; it does not fire the flip alerts.
Dim ◆ early in the chartThe first regime determination after warm-up. It is the engine deciding which side it starts on, not a flip event, so it never alerts.
▲ BULL ⚠ / ▼ BEAR ⚠ on the live barAn Early Preview marker (opt-in, off by default). A flip is forming on the unfinished bar. It can disappear if price recovers before the close — that is its documented nature. Previews never fire alerts.
Trail lineThe live flip level. If price closes across it, the regime flips there. It steps along behind the trend and breaks (gaps) at each flip on purpose, so each segment belongs to one regime. The engine also will not print a second flip immediately on the heels of one — rapid flip-reverse-flip sequences are engineered out.
Stop Envelope (new in v4.1)A second trail line holding the tightest level reached during the current trend — it never loosens while the trend lasts. The gap between it and the live Trail is exactly the noise the engine absorbed. The live Trail remains the true flip level; the envelope is the reference for traders whose risk rules demand a level that only ratchets.
⚡ Regime Pressure highlight (new in v4.1)The background tint strengthens when price presses hard into the trail area against the prevailing regime and closes rejected — the moments a trend is being seriously tested. Descriptive, not predictive: it marks what just happened. The bull / bear / caution zone tints themselves are customizable in settings; the wave line's colors encode flip conviction and stay fixed by design.
Wave ribbon around the centerlineVisual only. Its tightness and glow reflect how much momentum energy is behind the current move. Nothing in the ribbon fires a signal.
Gradient volatility zones (bands)Visual only. Envelope zones around the wave, scaled by the engine's current confidence in conditions. Context for how much room the market is using, not a boundary you are meant to trade against.
Soft background tintMarket structure, not trend direction: cyan while the structural regime is bullish, blue while bearish, mint during a confirmed range. Deliberately faint — it is context.
Candle coloringCandles are painted by trend state and strength; colour intensity rises with conviction. Neon candles appear only on confirmed flip bars. Slate candles mean the engine is still forming its first read.
◆ diamonds above highs / below lowsRejection-confirmed swing marks. The mark is drawn at the true extreme bar but only appears once the market has decisively rejected that extreme — typically about six bars later, occasionally up to eighteen. It never redraws or moves.
Dashboard header — SIGNALWAVE, then ✓ LIVE ▲ / ✓ LIVE ▼ / ⚠ WARMINGThe engine's own status. LIVE with an arrow means it is running and which side it is on. WARMING means the chart has not fed it enough history yet.
Trend rowThe current regime as the engine sees it: BULL ▲, BEAR ▼, or FORMING before the first flip. A · WEAK suffix means momentum inside that regime has been contracting for several bars.
Last Flip rowDirection arrow, grade (A+ / B / C) and score of the most recent flip — the running record of what the last regime change looked like.
Score rowA live conviction number for current conditions. Higher means more of the confluence checks agree. It ranks conditions against each other; it is not a probability and not a measure of how much better one flip is than another.
Regime rowThe structural read, separate from the flip engine: TREND ▲, TREND ▼, FLAT, or WARMING. With the Statistical Regime Layer switched on it can also read RANGE, and carries a numeric structure-persistence reading in parentheses.
Vol rowHow energetic the market is against its own recent behavior — LOW, NORM or HIGH. A ⚠ appended means volatility behavior is shifting.
Trail rowThe flip level as a price you can read off and use directly.
Dist rowHow far price currently sits from the flip level, expressed in volatility units rather than points, so it means the same thing across symbols. Small means the regime is close to breaking; large means it has room.
Delta rowWhether order flow is leaning with the regime (▲), against it (▼), or neither (—). It reads N/A on symbols whose feed carries no volume, and the grading re-weights itself automatically.
Setup rowA guardrail: ✓ OK means your chart timeframe matches the Trading Style you selected. ⚠ TF ≠ style means it does not, and the engine is calibrated for a different horizon than the one you are looking at.
Mode rowShorthand for your active configuration — market and style (for example FUT/DAY), plus the engine mode: ANC for Anchored, ADP for Adaptive, CLS for Classic.
Tag on the right edge of the chartA live marker at the trail level showing the last flip's direction and grade. Hover it for that flip's score, the standard it was graded against, and the trail level.

What each signal means — and how to react

A+ flip — large ▲ BULL or ▼ BEAR labelA regime change confirmed at bar close with full confluence: the structural regime, the wave, order flow and momentum all agreed, and the score cleared a bar calibrated from this chart's own recent flips. Because the standard adapts to your symbol and timeframe, A+ means high agreement by this market's own history, not against some universal constant. How traders use it: This is the cleanest context read SignalWave produces. Traders commonly use it to decide which direction they are willing to work in — taking their own setups only in the new regime's direction, standing down on counter-regime ideas, and using the trail level as the reference that would invalidate the read. Treat it as the frame, not the trigger: SignalWave has told you the regime changed on this timeframe and where the level is; the entry, size and stop remain your plan's job.
B flip — small ▲ BULL or ▼ BEAR labelThe same event — a confirmed regime change at bar close — with only partial confluence. Some checks agreed and others did not. A+ ranks above B; that ordering is all the grade claims, and no magnitude is implied. How traders use it: Traders commonly treat B flips as a regime change worth respecting but not worth leaning on alone: wait for their own trigger, work smaller, or ask a higher timeframe's SignalWave to agree before committing to the new regime. A practical habit is to check the dashboard first — a B flip while the Regime row already reads TREND in the same direction is a very different picture from a B flip while Regime reads FLAT.
Filtered flip — small ◆ with no labelThe engine did flip. The trail line jumped to the other side, the candle painting changed, the regime is now the opposite of what it was — but the flip failed your Signal Filter's quality gates, or was demoted because it happened inside a confirmed range. It is marked precisely so you never see the chart change state without an explanation, and it does not fire the flip alerts. How traders use it: Do not read a ◆ as 'nothing happened'. Anything you were planning on the old regime is stale, because the trail and the paint have moved. Most traders treat it as 'regime changed, conviction poor': drop conviction rather than flipping sides, and wait for the next graded flip or for the Regime row to catch up. A cluster of ◆ marks is itself information — that is what a chopping market looks like through this tool.
Trend row shows · WEAK (Trend Weakening alert)You are still in the regime, but the wave's momentum has been contracting for several bars in a row. It is an early caution flag on the current regime's energy. How traders use it: This is context, not an exit cue, and it is not a validated predictor that the trend is about to end — our own testing did not support treating it as one. Traders commonly use it to stop adding, to tighten management under their own rules, or to take partials they were already planning. The regime read itself stays valid until the trail actually breaks.
Regime row — TREND ▲ / TREND ▼ / FLAT (and RANGE with the statistical layer on)A structural description of the market right now, produced independently of the flip engine. TREND with an arrow means structure is committed in that direction. FLAT means it is not committed. RANGE — only available with the Statistical Regime Layer switched on — means range conditions were statistically confirmed. This row describes the present; it makes no forward-direction claim. How traders use it: The highest-agreement picture is Regime and Trend pointing the same way — traders commonly run their normal plan and normal risk there. When Trend shows a direction but Regime reads FLAT, expect flips to be lower quality and whipsaw risk to be higher; many traders demand a stronger trigger, work smaller, or sit out. With RANGE confirmed and Demote Range Flips on, flips in that state are deliberately demoted to ◆ — that is the tool telling you it does not rate the flip stream in these conditions.
Vol row — LOW / NORM / HIGH, and the ⚠ Volatility Transition flagHow energetic the market is against its own recent behavior. The ⚠ marks a shift in volatility behavior; regime changes often follow a shift, though the flag says nothing about direction. How traders use it: It is a sizing-and-distance input, not a direction call. In HIGH the trail sits further away and stops need room — traders commonly reduce size to keep risk constant. In LOW the trail hugs price, flips come easier and more of them are marginal — a good moment for the stricter Signal Filter. When ⚠ appears, the common habit is to re-check the regime and the Dist row before adding exposure, because the conditions your current plan was set in have changed. Pair it with DeepWave when you want an actual expected move size rather than a state word.
Swing marks — ◆ above a high or below a lowA confirmed local extreme. The mark sits on the true extreme bar, but it only prints once the market has decisively rejected that level — typically about six bars later, occasionally up to eighteen. Candidates that are neither rejected nor exceeded inside that window are discarded rather than marked late. Measured across all five asset classes, roughly nineteen of every twenty marks are genuine local extremes. They never repaint. How traders use it: Treat these as structure, not as turn calls — by design you never get one at the moment of the extreme, and the lag is the price of the selectivity. Traders commonly use them to place stops behind real structure, to draw the levels and ranges they actually care about, and to judge whether a young regime is building higher lows or lower highs. If you want fewer objects on the chart, they can be switched off in Display without affecting a single signal.
Trail line and the Dist rowThe trail is the live flip level: a close across it flips the regime there. Dist is the current distance to it in volatility units, so the number reads the same on any symbol. The line breaking at each flip is intentional — each unbroken segment belongs to one regime. How traders use it: This is the most directly usable number in the tool. Traders commonly manage against the trail as a stop reference and use Dist as a proximity gauge: a very small Dist means the regime is on the edge and a flip or a sharp rejection is close, and traders commonly treat that as a poor moment to add fresh regime-aligned exposure; a widening Dist means price is extending away from the level that would end the read. If your own stop would sit inside the trail, you are holding a tighter risk than the regime read describes — a legitimate choice, just a different one.

Settings & presets

Configuration — Auto (Preset Matrix) or CustomLeave it on Auto. Auto tunes the engine from your Asset Class and Trading Style and is the tested path for almost everyone. Custom unlocks hand-tuning of the underlying controls; go there only once you know exactly which behavior you want to change, and change one thing at a time.
Asset ClassMatch it to the market you are actually charting: Stocks, Forex, Futures/Indices, Crypto, Commodities. Every class carries its own volatility fingerprint and the engine calibrates to it. A mismatched asset class degrades signal quality more than any other single setting in the tool.
Trading StyleThis sets the engine's reaction horizon: Scalping, Day Trading, Swing Trading, Short Term Investing, Long Term Investing. Faster styles give quicker flips, more of them, and a tighter trail. Slower styles give smoother rides with fewer but larger regime moves. Pick the style that matches how long you actually hold, not the one that produces the most marks.
Chart timeframe vs style (the Setup row)Each style expects a band of timeframes and the dashboard tells you when you are outside it. Scalping expects roughly 1 to 5 minute charts; Day Trading 5 to 30 minutes; Swing Trading 1 to 4 hours; Short Term Investing 4-hour to daily; Long Term Investing daily to weekly. If the Setup row reads ⚠ TF ≠ style, either change the style or change the chart — you are reading an engine calibrated for a different horizon.
Engine — Quantum v4 (Anchored) / Quantum v4 (Adaptive · beta) / Classic (v3.1)Anchored is the default and the field-verified build; stay there unless you have a reason. Adaptive is a beta whose response self-tunes with live volatility and can flip differently from Anchored — it is still under validation, so treat it as an experiment, not an upgrade. Classic reproduces the previous SignalWave engine exactly for anyone who wants the old behavior back. All three share the same grading, regime engine and bar-close contract.
Signal Filter — A+ & B / A+ only / All signalsA+ & B is the recommended default. Move to A+ only on volatile instruments or when the alert stream is noisier than you want to act on. All signals promotes filtered flips to full labels and alerts — useful if you want to see the raw flip stream while studying a market, noisy as a daily driver. Remember that the filter never hides a flip: it controls the labels and the alerts, and filtered flips still print ◆.
Flip Noise Filter — Off / StandardShips On (Standard) and requires price to clear the flip level by a small volatility-scaled margin before a flip counts. It is a cadence control: fewer marginal flips, cleaner regime paint, quieter alerts. It is not an accuracy feature — our own testing showed no measurable quality difference in the flips it removes, so treat it purely as noise management. Turn it Off only if you deliberately want every level cross to count.
Statistical Regime Layer (and the nested Demote Range Flips)Off by default and deliberately so. Switching it on adds the statistically confirmed RANGE state, a finer-grained volatility reading and the structure-persistence number on the Regime row — at a large speed cost on long charts. Everything you rely on day to day is identical either way: flips, grades, the trail, the swing marks and all nine alerts. Turn it on only if your chart loads quickly and you specifically want the confirmed-RANGE filter. Demote Range Flips only does anything while the layer is on, which is why it greys out otherwise; leaving it on is the sensible setting, since confirmed ranges are where flips whipsaw most.
Early Preview ModeOff by default. On, it shows a tentative marker on the live, unfinished bar when a flip is forming. It can retract if price recovers before the close, and it never fires an alert. Useful if you want early warning while you are watching the tape; a liability if you treat previews as decisions. Confirmed signals always wait for the bar to close.
Swing Fractals (Display)On by default. These are the rejection-confirmed ◆ swing marks. Switch them off if you want a cleaner chart or you already mark structure yourself — no signal, grade or alert depends on them.
Display toggles — Dashboard, Trail Stop Line, Adaptive Ribbon, Volatility Bands, Regime Background, Candle Coloring, Brand WatermarkAll independent, all cosmetic except the information they carry. The Trail Stop Line and the Dashboard are the two most traders keep. The Ribbon and Volatility Bands are purely visual context and are the first things to turn off if your chart feels crowded. Candle Coloring is worth switching off if you use your own candle scheme. The Dashboard is anchored via the Position setting.
Custom overrides (Custom mode only)Volatility Period sets how steady the band distance is — higher is steadier and slower to adapt, lower hugs recent action. Band Multiplier sets how far the flip level sits from the wave — higher gives fewer and later flips, lower gives earlier and noisier ones. Sensitivity governs how aggressively the centerline tracks price. Wave Type and Wave Length change the character of the visual wave only. Confirmation Bars sets how many closes beyond the level are needed before a flip is accepted: the lower setting is the immediate classic behavior and suits fast charts, the higher one costs about a bar of lag and suits swing and higher-timeframe work. Change one at a time and watch what it does to the flip stream before keeping it.
Alerts and Webhook JSONCreate alerts from the nine named conditions and set the trigger to Once Per Bar Close — that matches the way the engine decides. The titles are locked (v4.1 added ◈ Trail Update and ⚡ Regime Pressure to the frozen set), so automations built on them stay valid. Webhook JSON Alerts is a separate opt-in switch: turn it on and create one additional alert with the condition 'Any alert() function call' to receive a machine-readable payload on every confirmed flip that passes your Signal Filter. The named alerts remain available whether or not JSON is on.

Where it fits in your workflow

  • Timeframes. Every timeframe on TradingView is supported, and the Trading Style preset — not the chart — is what sets the engine's horizon; keep the two matched and the dashboard Setup row will read ✓ OK. The intended workflow is top-down: run SignalWave on a timeframe above the one you execute on, establish which regime you are operating inside, then work your own strategy within that context. On 4-hour charts and above, read it as state and context — which regime is in force, where the level is, how volatile conditions are — rather than as a forward-direction call; that is where its job is regime confirmation, not timing. On intraday charts the flip stream is denser and the Signal Filter and Flip Noise Filter become the settings that matter most. Very short chart histories are a practical limit rather than a timeframe one: the Regime row needs a few hundred bars of loaded history before it leaves WARMING — longer if you switch the Statistical Regime Layer on — and the engine itself shows FORMING until its first flip.
  • Asset classes. Built and field-verified across all five supported classes — Stocks, Forex, Futures and indices, Crypto, and Commodities — with a dedicated preset for each class and style combination, twenty-five in total. Set the Asset Class correctly and the engine calibrates its volatility fingerprint to that market; that single setting matters more than any other. Two class-specific behaviors are worth knowing. On symbols whose feed carries no volume — common on some forex, CFD and index feeds — the Delta row reads N/A and the grading re-weights itself automatically; nothing breaks, but order flow is one of the grader's stronger inputs, so treat grades on those symbols as lower confidence. And on markets where the underlying data itself varies — split- and dividend-adjusted stock series, back-adjusted versus raw futures continuations, different forex broker feeds — the same settings over the same dates can produce a noticeably different flip stream, because the bars are different, not because the tool is. Crypto runs continuously with no session boundaries, which suits the tool well; futures and indices are the class the v4.0 build was field-verified against most often.
  • Run it top-down. Put SignalWave on the timeframe above the one you execute on, read the regime and the trail level there, then drop to your execution chart. That is the workflow the tool was designed around, and it is why regime confirmation — not entry timing — is its job.
  • Read the dashboard before you read the chart. Trend, Regime and Vol in three seconds tell you whether you are in a committed regime, a flat one, or a volatility shift — which is usually enough to decide whether today is a day for your setups at all.
  • Layer it with EdgeFlow for timing. SignalWave answers 'which regime am I in'; EdgeFlow's bounded momentum scale answers 'is now a reasonable moment inside it'. Traders commonly take EdgeFlow triggers only in the direction of SignalWave's higher-timeframe regime.
  • Layer it with TrendScore for strength. SignalWave gives you the regime and the flip; TrendScore's score and states tell you how strong and how consistent that trend reads, and its Neutral state marks the stretch where the score is not committed to either side. Agreement between the two is a much stronger context read than either alone.
  • Layer it with DeepWave for sizing. SignalWave's Vol row is a state word; DeepWave gives an actual expected move size to set stops and targets against. The natural division is SignalWave for direction context, DeepWave for distance.
  • Use the trail as your reference level, not just as decoration. It is the price that defines the regime — many traders manage against it and treat a close across it as the read being invalidated, which is exactly what it means to the engine.
  • Automate the stream, not the decision. The nine alert titles are locked, so webhook and notification setups built on them stay valid; set every one to Once Per Bar Close. The opt-in JSON payload carries the flip event, grade, symbol, timeframe, price, trail level, score, regime and volatility state — and v4.1 adds a separate opt-in per-bar TRAIL_UPDATE payload with the live flip level and the Stop Envelope, for platforms that modify resting stop orders automatically. Off by default; existing setups are unchanged.
  • If you are coming from v3.1, add v4.1 as a new script, pick your Asset Class and Trading Style, and re-create your alerts from the new list — the old Buy/Sell alert titles were retired at the repositioning. v3.1 keeps firing until you remove it, and the Classic engine inside v4.1 reproduces the legacy behavior verbatim — v2 and v3 shared the same engine, so one Classic mode covers both eras.

  • All alerts fire once, at bar close, and never retract. Set the trigger to Once Per Bar Close. Titles are locked — v4.1 added ◈ Trail Update and ⚡ Regime Pressure to the frozen set — and are safe to build automations on.

Common mistakes

  • Reading a flip as an instruction to buy or sell. SignalWave identifies trend regimes; it does not issue trade recommendations. A flip tells you the regime changed on that timeframe and where the level sits — the entry, the size and the stop stay with your own plan. That is why the labels read BULL and BEAR rather than anything resembling a trade command.
  • Expecting the Regime row to predict. It is a description of current market structure, not a forecast, and we make no forward-direction claim for it. Use it to know what kind of market you are in right now, not what it will do next.
  • Treating the WEAK flag or the Trend Weakening alert as an exit cue. It is an early caution flag on momentum inside the regime. Our own measurement did not support treating it as a reversal or stall predictor, so it stays what it says it is — caution, not a signal. The regime read holds until the trail breaks.
  • Reading grades and the score as probabilities or as a measure of how much better one flip is than another. A+ ranks above B; that ordering is the whole claim. There is no magnitude claim behind the grades, and there is no 'top X%' meaning to the score.
  • Expecting the Flip Noise Filter to make signals more accurate. It reduces flip count and quiets the alert stream. Testing found no measurable quality difference in the flips it removes, so it is a cadence control and nothing more.
  • Assuming a ◆ means nothing happened. The engine flipped, the trail flipped and the paint changed — the flip simply failed your quality filter. Plans built on the old regime are stale even though no label printed.
  • Comparing flip counts across brokers or data feeds and calling the difference a bug. The indicator is deterministic on identical bars, but bars themselves differ between feeds and adjustment bases; the same settings over the same dates can produce meaningfully different flip counts on a different feed. SignalWave promises consistency per chart, not across data vendors.
  • Panicking when the earliest signals on a chart differ from someone else's. The engine builds its state forward from where your history starts, so its first stretch of bars depends on your data plan, and grades near the start of history can settle differently until enough shared history accumulates. Recent signals match. Nothing is repainting — no signal ever changes after its bar closes.
  • Leaving the Asset Class or Trading Style mismatched. A mismatched asset class degrades quality more than any other setting, and a style that does not match your chart timeframe puts a ⚠ in the Setup row for a reason.
  • Treating Early Preview markers as decisions. They live on the unfinished bar, they can retract before the close, and they never alert. That is documented behavior, not a defect.
  • Switching on the Statistical Regime Layer expecting better signals. Flips, grades, the trail, the swing marks and every alert are identical with it on or off. What it adds is the confirmed RANGE state and finer volatility detail, at a significant speed cost — which is why it ships off.
  • Expecting swing marks in real time. They confirm only after the market decisively rejects the extreme, typically about six bars later and occasionally up to eighteen. Selectivity is bought with that lag; a mark that appeared instantly would be a guess.
  • Ignoring the Delta row reading N/A on volume-less symbols. Nothing breaks, but flow is one of the stronger grading inputs, so grades on those feeds separate flip quality less reliably.
  • Carrying old v3.1 alerts forward and wondering why the names changed. The former Buy/Sell alert titles were retired once, deliberately, at the v4.0 repositioning. From the v4.0 baseline the titles are frozen and additive-only, so anything you build on them now stays stable.

Trend regimeThe state a market is in — trending one way, trending the other, or not committed. SignalWave's job is to identify which regime is in force and mark when it changes. A+ means full confluence, B partial, C filtered by the quality gates. The grades rank flips against each other; they carry no magnitude or probability claim. Filtered flip (◆)A real regime change that did not clear your Signal Filter. It prints a small diamond so a state change is never hidden, and it does not fire the flip alerts. Trail levelThe live price that defines the current regime. A close across it flips the regime there, which is why it also serves as a stop reference. DistHow far price sits from the trail level, shown in volatility units so the number means the same thing on any symbol or timeframe. DeltaWhether order flow is leaning with the current regime, against it, or neither. Reads N/A on symbols whose feed carries no volume. Swing markA confirmed local high or low, drawn at the true extreme bar but only printed after the market decisively rejects that level. Rejection-confirmedThe rule behind the swing marks: a candidate extreme is only marked once price has decisively turned away from it. Candidates that are neither rejected nor exceeded inside the window are discarded rather than marked late. Volatility transitionA shift in how energetic the market is behaving. Flagged with ⚠ on the Vol row and by its own alert. It says nothing about direction. Warm-up (WARMING / FORMING)The period before a readout has enough loaded history to be honest. SignalWave shows WARMING or FORMING rather than guessing a value. Early PreviewAn opt-in marker on the unfinished bar showing that a flip is forming. It can retract before the close and never fires an alert. Flip Noise FilterA setting that requires price to clear the flip level by a small volatility-scaled margin before a flip counts. A cadence control: fewer marginal flips and quieter alerts, not an accuracy feature. Signal FilterThe setting that decides which grades earn a full label and an alert. It never hides a flip — filtered flips still print ◆. Statistical Regime LayerAn optional advanced layer that adds the statistically confirmed RANGE state and finer volatility detail. Off by default because it is the heaviest calculation in the tool; flips, grades, trail and alerts are identical either way. Zero repaintingNothing that fires can un-fire. Every signal, alert and webhook payload is decided at bar close and never changes afterwards, and no signal is plotted into the past.
